This package contains the X print library.

This package contains implentations of the Free Standards Group (FSG) Open Printing API (PAPI) (v1.0) and client software that uses it. The implemenations of the API are designed so that they can be used individually to support client application interaction with a particular type of print service or together to interact with a variety of different print service types.

Net::Printer ============ Perl module for directly printing to a print server/printer without having to create a pipe to either lpr or lp. This essentially mimics what the BSD LPR program does by connecting directly to the line printer printer port (almost always 515), and transmitting the data and control information to the print server. Please note that this module only communicates with the BSD Line Printer Daemon Protocol as described in RFC-1179. It does not natively speak to remote print servers via SMB, Apple-Talk or Netware. Remote print services running lpsched, such as Sun Solaris or other Sys V-derived operating systems, will work so long as the print spoolers are set up to understand the BSD protocol. Most modern network-capable laser printers, such as those manufactured by HP and LexMark, also "speak" BSD.

Here you have the new release of `poster', to scale postscript images to a larger size, and print them on larger media and/or tile them to print on multiple sheets. With respect to the earlier release: - support is added for foreign (Non European A*) media sizes. - options for scaling became more flexible - original restrictions on white margins in your drawing are removed. This is a perl script that can generate compact, DSC-compliant Postscript out of a plain text file and a BDF font. The output can be previewed using Ghostscript under most platforms, or with the Windows shareware program "ROPS", or printed on Postscript printers, or converted to PDF using "ps2pdf". The motivation for creating this script was to be able to print texts in international character sets. Since it's much easier to create or edit bitmap (BDF/PCF) fonts than outline fonts, this script allows to print texts using your own fonts.

CUPS-PDF is designed to produce PDF files in a heterogeneous network by providing a PDF printer on the central fileserver. After restarting CUPS, you will be able to choose "CUPS-PDF (Virtual PDF Printer)" when setting up a new printer in CUPS. Once you print to the new device all converted PDF files will be placed in the specified directory.

HPLIP is an HP developed solution for printing, scanning, and faxing with HP inkjet and laser based printers in Linux. The HP driver project provides printing support for nearly 1000 printer models, including Deskjet, Officejet, Photosmart, PSC (Print Scan Copy), Business Inkjet, LaserJet, and LaserJet MFP.
