Zoner's Half-Life compile tools offer many improvements over the original map compiling tools for Half-Life, such as better lighting quality, faster vis times, switchable texture based lighting, support for brush entities casting shadows, removal of "sticky" edges, support for 64-bit processors, and much more. Please note that these tools are for use with the Half-Life 1 engine (also known as GoldSrc or GoldSource), not for the Source Engine used in Half- Life 2. For the Source Engine, refer to Custom Source Tools (CST).

ZNibbles is a multi-player networked game. It is based on the old nibbles game: you've got a worm, eat nibbles and get your worm growing. Several players can play together, each of them controlling its own worm on its own computer. There is theoretically an unlimited number of simultaneous players, it's more a matter of network speed. It has been tested with more than 10 players and it was real fun :) ZNibbles is written for Unix. It has been tested under Linux, SunOS, Solaris and Irix. The game can run either directly on top of X11, use the GTK+ toolkit (get it on the GTK+ site) or use the Motif toolkit (get a good Motif free implementation called LessTif) Once compiled, you get the files: nibbles : the ZNibbles server gznibbles : the ZNibbles GTK+ client znibblesX : the ZNibbless X11-only client (poor) Run "nibbles" first as the ZNibbles server, and then run its clients to play.

In xspacewarp the player maneuvers a Federation spaceship, called the Endever, through 81 sectors of space trying to destroy an Armada of enemy Jovian ships before they destroy the all the Federation bases. To accompish this task, the Endever has fasers, ion thrust engines, warpdrive for jumping between sectors, a limited number of photon torpedoes, and a finite store of energy which gets depleted during battles and must be replenished by docking with the bases. The game has no time limit and has a choice of 10 skill levels. xspacewarp also has an online orientation to explain the game in further detail.

Ztrack is a (very) simple curses-based pseudo-3D driving game. It supports colour with ncurses. It should also compile on most reasonably modern Unix boxes. You probably need a pretty fast terminal - console or xterm is easily enough.

Xboard is a graphical chessboard that can serve as a user interface for Crafty, GNU Chess, for Internet Chess Servers, or for electronic mail correspondence chess. xboard can also be used by itself.

Oolite is an independent interpretation and recreation of the classic game, Elite. Oolite is a space trading and combat game, with the dangers of pirates, police, bounty hunters, and various other hazards. The player's role is open ended: there is no set goal other than perhaps to reach the Elite combat rating, but the players may choose their own path through the universe. Xtic is a board game designed for the X windows environment. The game is a two-player game, although for the moment,it is only possible to play against the computer. The board is composed of 4x4 squares and 16 pieces. Each piece has four properties: black or brown, horizontal or vertical, solid or hollow, round or square. This makes up 16 possible combinations and there is exactly one piece for each possibility. This is version 1.12.
