The TOIlet project attempts to create a free replacement for the FIGlet
utility. TOIlet stands for "The Other Implementation's letters", coined
after FIGlet's "Frank, Ian and Glen's letters".
TOIlet is in its very early development phase. It uses the powerful
libcaca library to achieve various text-based effects. TOIlet
implements or plans to implement the following features:
* The ability to load FIGlet fonts
* Support for Unicode input and output
* Support for colour fonts
* Support for colour output
* Support for various output formats: HTML, IRC, ANSI...
TOIlet also aims for full FIGlet compatibility. It is currently able to
load FIGlet fonts and perform horizontal smushing.
FontForge (formerly called PfaEdit) is a PostScript font editor which can
create and modify outline fonts in Type 1, CID-Keyed, TrueType, OpenType
format. It can generate bitmaps and save in BDF format or embedded bitmaps
in TrueType/OpenType fonts.
It can generate Type3 and SVG fonts if built with multilayer feature.
If you feel the shortage of memory, rebuilding multilayer-disabled
FontForge with FONTFORGE_NO_MULTILAYER defined will save some memory.
If you have installed AutoTrace or Potrace, you can generate outlines
from imported bitmap images.
For more information, see
This is a perl script that can generate compact, DSC-compliant Postscript out
of a plain text file and a BDF font. The output can be previewed using
Ghostscript under most platforms, or with the Windows shareware program
"ROPS", or printed on Postscript printers, or converted to PDF using "ps2pdf".
The motivation for creating this script was to be able to print texts in
international character sets. Since it's much easier to create or edit bitmap
(BDF/PCF) fonts than outline fonts, this script allows to print texts using
your own fonts.
PDF::API2
There seem to be a growing plethora of Perl modules for creating and
manipulating PDF files.
This module is 'The Next Generation' of Text::PDF::API which initially
provided a nice API around the Text::PDF::* modules created by Martin Hosken.
FEATURES
. Works with more than one PDF file open at once
. It presents a object-oriented API to the user
. Supports the 14 base PDF Core Fonts
. Supports TrueType fonts
. Supports Adobe-Type1 Fonts (pfb/pfa/afm)
. Supports native Embedding of bitmap images (jpeg,ppm,png,gif)
. Supports modification of existing pdfs
and import/cloning of pages
The true type fonts HAN NOM A and HAN NOM B have been developed by Chan
Nguyen Do Quoc Bao (Germany), To Minh Tam (USA) and Ni sinh Thien Vien Vien
Chieu (Vietnam). Their work got started in 2001, completed in 2003, and
publicized in 2005. These two true type fonts can be used with WIN-2000 or
WIN-XP and Office XP or Office 2003 to display Han and Nom characters with
code points by the Unicode Standard. Two sets of true type fonts are
available with high and low resolutions.
Kubrick is a game based on the Rubik's Cube (TM) puzzle. The cube
sizes range from 2x2x2 up to 6x6x6, or you can play with irregular
"bricks" such as 5x3x2 or "mats" such as 6x4x1 or 2x2x1. The game
has a selection of puzzles at several levels of difficulty, as well
as demos of pretty patterns and solution moves, or you can make up
your own puzzles.
