V is a C++ GUI and application development framework for X-windows and
Microsoft Windows. It allows you to develop GUI applications that are
source-code compatible under X11 and Microsoft Windows 3.x/95, that have
the same look-and-feel under both environments. It does not require any
special X toolkits or Windows DLL's to be installed (it uses the standard
toolkits on both environments).
Full documentation, many code examples, and the V toolkit for Windows
systems is available at the V web site:

The xisp package implements a user-friendly X interface to pppd/chat
and provides maximum feedback from the dial-in and login phases on a
browser screen, as well as a manual login terminal window. It also
provides greater versatility in interrupting a call in progress and in
general enhances the user's feeling of "what's going on", especially
if he/she is not all that well acquainted with the intricacies of
system log files. Xisp also has means to track your phonecosts.
wpa_supplicant is a client (supplicant) with support for WPA and WPA2
(IEEE 802.11i / RSN). It is suitable for both desktop/laptop computers and
embedded systems. Supplicant is the IEEE 802.1X/WPA component that is used
in the client stations. It implements key negotiation with a WPA
Authenticator and it controls the roaming and IEEE 802.11 authentication/
association of the wlan driver.
wpa_supplicant is designed to be a "daemon" program that runs in the
background and acts as the backend component controlling the wireless
connection. wpa_supplicant supports separate frontend programs and a
text-based frontend (wpa_cli) and a GUI (wpa_gui) are included with
wpa_supplicant.
Markdown is a text-to-HTML filter; it translates an easy-to-read and
easy-to-write structured text format into HTML. Markdown's text format
is most similar to that of plain text email, and supports features such
as headers, *emphasis*, code blocks, blockquotes, and links.
Markdown's syntax is designed not as a generic markup language, but
specifically to serve as a front-end to (X)HTML. You can use span-level
HTML tags anywhere in a Markdown document, and you can use block level
HTML tags (like <div> and <table> as well).
Text::MultiMarkdown implements the MultiMarkdown markdown syntax
extensions from: http://fletcherpenney.net/multimarkdown/
herbstluftwm is a manual tiling window manager for X11 using Xlib and Glib.
Its main features can be described with:
- The layout is based on splitting frames into subframes which can be
split again or can be filled with windows (similar to i3 or musca)
- Tags (or workspaces, or virtual desktops) can be added/removed at
runtime. Each tag contains an own layout
- Exactly one tag is viewed on each monitor. The tags are monitor
independent (similar to xmonad)
- It is configured at runtime via IPC calls from herbstclient. So the
configuration file is just a script which is run on startup. (Similar
to wmii or musca)
Fbpanel is a lightweight, NETWM compliant X11 desktop panel. It works with
any NETWM compliant window manager (xfwm4, sawfish, openbox, metacity, etc.)
It currently provides and features:
- Taskbar, launchbar, and pager
- Show desktop button (iconify or shade all windows)
- Image viewer and volume control
- Text and digital clock
- System tray (notification area)
- Menu with support for freedesktop.org application menu
- CPU, network, memory, and battery monitors
- General monitor (to display output of configured command)
- Ability to replace windows' icons
- Transparency support
- Customizable size and screen position
- Ability to run many instances each with its own configuration
- Modest resource usage
Koules is a fast action arcade-style game for X. This version
works in fine (up to 900x620) resolution with cool 256 color
graphics, multiplayer mode up to 5 players, full sound and, of
course, network support. Koules is an original idea. First
version of Koules was developed from scratch by Jan Hubicka in
July 1995.
Eterm is a color vt102 terminal emulator for X Window system.
It supports pixmap and pseudo-transparent background. It also
supports Japanese input with XIM (X Input Method) protocol.
If you want to input Japanese, use "--input-method" and
"--preedit-type" option.
xyaku is a general dictionary/search engine front-end for X.
xyaku invokes an add-in command by hitting a specified key
combination, and sends the contents of X selection buffer into
add-in's stdin, and receives the output from its stdout, then shows
the result in a pop-up window.
