This port offers VIQR<->VISCII (RFC 1456) conversion and VISCII ctype-like
routines for Vietnamese text processing. Of prime interest is the finite
state machine that reads 7-bit Viet-Net style Vietnamese and produces 8-bit
output. Developers are encouraged to take advantage of these routines for
these reasons:
- Parsing task is greatly simplified
- Makes one's code easier to port from one character encoding to another
- Ensures a consistent user interface across many software packages
Experimental Unicode TrueType Font with UHoai Vietnamese encoding
for use with Netscape 4.0+.
urwvn is a Truetype package of the URW fonts, but extended with Vietnamese
support.
The true type fonts HAN NOM A and HAN NOM B have been developed by Chan
Nguyen Do Quoc Bao (Germany), To Minh Tam (USA) and Ni sinh Thien Vien Vien
Chieu (Vietnam). Their work got started in 2001, completed in 2003, and
publicized in 2005. These two true type fonts can be used with WIN-2000 or
WIN-XP and Office XP or Office 2003 to display Han and Nom characters with
code points by the Unicode Standard. Two sets of true type fonts are
available with high and low resolutions.

VISCII->Unicode conversion
The two programs "vn7to8" and "vn8to7" convert between the 7-bit
VIQR format for Vietnamese (Viet-Net like) and the 8-bit VISCII
data formats (RFC 1456).
The current supported version is VISCII 1.1.
The program "vn80to81" converts files from VISCII 1.0 to VISCII 1.1.

on the coding table provided by Vietnamese Professional Society (VPS).
VNconvert converts Vietnamese text files between the following formats:
VISCII (RFC 1456), VNCII (VPSWin), VPSedit (DOS), VNI, VNLab/VNU,
VNU (Windows), VN Thin-Art (Mac), VN Thin-Art (PC), Viet-Toan,

A paginator similar to "more" or "pg", but much more powerful and speaks
Vietnamese.
VNless is a port of a very old version of GNU's less that suports the display
of files written in the Vietnamese language using the VISCII (VIetnamese
Standard Code for Information Interchange) encoding, RFC 1456.
VNless should be run w/in a VNterm or simular terminal emulator supporting
Vietnamese language encodings.
