Encore is a set of utility classes written in Objective-C for GNUstep and Mac OS X. The motivation of writing these classes was driven by implementing the projects BDB and FT. Libconfig is a simple library for manipulating structured configuration files. The file format is more compact and more readable than XML. And unlike XML, it is type-aware, so it is not necessary to do string parsing in application code. Libconfig is very compact -- just 25K for the stripped C shared library (one-fifth the size of the expat XML parser library) and 39K for the stripped C++ shared library. This makes it well-suited for memory-constrained systems like handheld devices. The library includes bindings for both the C and C++ languages. It works on POSIX-compliant UNIX systems (GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, Solaris, FreeBSD) and Windows (2000, XP and later).

This module tries to make it easy to build Perl extensions that use functions and typemaps provided by other perl extensions. This means that a perl extension is treated like a shared library that provides also a C and an XS interface besides the perl one. Shell Flags (shFlags) is a library written to greatly simplify the handling of command-line flags in Bourne based Unix shell scripts (bash, dash, ksh, sh, zsh) on many Unix OSes (Linux, Solaris, Mac OS X, etc.). Most shell scripts use getopt for flags processing, but the different versions of getopt on various OSes make writing portable shell scripts difficult. shFlags instead provides an API that doesn't change across shell and OS versions so the script writer can be confident that the script will work. shFlags is a port of the google-gflags C++/Python library.
