RipperX is a GTK program to rip CD audio tracks and encode them to the Ogg, MP3, or FLAC formats. It is easy, requiring a few mouse clicks to convert an entire album, displaying progress along the way. It can rip and encode in parallel, and supports CDD.

rplay is a flexible network audio system that allows sounds to be played to and from local and remote systems. The rplay audio server currently supports SunOS 4.1.X, Solaris 2.X, Linux, SGI IRIX 4 & 5, HP9000/705, HP9000/710 and now FreeBSD. The rplay clients and client library should work on any system that supports Berkeley sockets. The X Window System is not required.

This is a text to speech system produced by integrating various pieces of code and tables of data, which are all (I believe) in the public domain. The Oxford Text Archive has for several years maintained copies of several machine-readable dictionaries along with its extensive (if unsystematic) collections of other machine-readable texts. This document gives some further details of the various dictionaries available, and summarises the conditions under which copies of them are currently distributed. Rubber Band Library is a high quality software library for audio time-stretching and pitch-shifting. It permits you to change the tempo and pitch of an audio stream or recording dynamically and independently of one another.

dir2ogg is a python script which converts mp3, m4a, wma and wav files into OGG Vorbis format. It was inspired by the perl script mp32ogg.

s3mod - play soundtracker modules on a Unix machine s3mod plays soundtracker music modules on a Unix machine. Shout feeds an mp3 stream to your icecast or shoutcast server. The shoutcast system is a more or less commercial system, developed by Nullsoft.

Basically, SIDPLAY is just an ordinary music player software. More specifically, it emulates the Sound Interface Device chip (MOS 6581, known as SID) and the Micro Processor Unit (MOS 6510) of the Commodore 64 on your computer. Its platform-independent software emulates hardware components. Therefore it is able to load and execute C64 machine code programs which produce music or sound. In general, these are independent fragments of code and data which have been ripped from games and demonstration programs and were transferred directly from the C64. All you need is a supported operating system and audio hardware with average PCM waveform playback capabilities. A fast CPU and a 16-bit sound card are recommended for better performance.
