Japanese input module for GTK2
im-ja is a Japanese input module for GTK2.
Currently supported input modes are: hiragana, katakana, half-width
katakana, zenkaku, Canna, FreeWnn, and Kanji character recognition
(based on Kanjipad).
Conversion hotkeys, status window, preedit text colors, etc. can be
customized through a GUI. An optional applet is also included for the
gnome-panel which can be used to display and change the input method.

Web proxy converting Japanese into Romaji
Japana is a small proxy written in Perl. It converts Hiragana, Katakana
and Kanji on the fly into Romaji. The conversion is done using the
kakasi-library for Perl.

It supports translation of each JIS, EUC, Shift JIS texts,
and automatically recognizes the encode-method of the target text files.

SLang-based text editor (w/ Japanese support)
JED is a highly customizable text editor offering most of
the commonly used features of EMACS without the proportions
of EMACS. The default configuration uses EMACS keystrokes,
though WordStar keystrokes are available, and most any
keystrokes can be programmed.n JED is customizable and
programmable in the language S-Lang, which can look like
Forth or C, depending on your preferences.
English to Japanese dictionary for GNUstep
Jishyo is an English -> Japanese dictionary. Currently it only supports
English queries. In the future I hope to add support for kana and kanji
queries, as well as multi-radical lookups for kanji. Jishyo is based in
large part on code from Jim Breen's xjdic. It also uses the dictionary
data from the same software.
