GHEX is a simple binary editor, allowing binary files to be edited in both hex and ascii. It features find and replace functions and conversion between binary, octal, decimal and hexadecimal values, making use of an alternative, user-configurable MDI concept.

gnotepad+ is a simple Gnome based text editor. It also has built-in simple HTML editing with previews directed to Netscape.

gwrite is an HTML format text editor. Features: 1. HTML5 file format 2. Standard word processing user interface 3. Content structure oriented word processing 4. Heme is intended to be fast and portable console hex editor for Unix-like systems. It has undo support (number of undo operations is only limited by available memory), ability to fill a range of addresses with the specified byte, ability to search for a single byte or character string. Offsets can be given in hexadecimal, octal, or decimal forms. There are two editing modes: hex (binary) and ASCII (text). Heme uses standard curses library for screen and input handling, and offers colors support (they can be set in the configuration file).

HexCurse is a versatile ncurses-based hex editor written in C that provides the user with many features. It currently supports searching, hex, and decimal address output, jumping to specified locations in a file, and quick keyboard shortcuts to commands.

Hexedit view and edit files in hexadecimal or in ASCII. hexedit shows a file both in ASCII and in hexadecimal. The file can be a device as the file is not whole read. You can modify the file and search through it. You have also copy&paste, and save to file functions. Modifications are shown in bold.

Hexpert is a simple but flexible binary file editor. It has both character and hex search modes, and can do both character and hex editing.
