Faces is a Gtk+ program for monitoring a list visually. Typically this is
a list of incoming mail messages. IMAP and POP mailbox formats are
supported.
Faces has three different modes of operation:
* The default will monitor for new mail.
* You can monitor the whole of a mail file.
* Custom monitoring. You can specify a program or shell script to run.
Lots of good examples can be downloaded from:
ftp://ftp.cs.indiana.edu/pub/faces/picons/src/
Audio capabilities are also provided as a conditional compilation option.
This is mailfront, a package containing customizeable network front-ends
for mail servers. It contains complete SMTP and POP3 front-ends as well
as an authentication module for IMAP.
Two SMTP back-ends are provided. One delivers mail to qmail-queue,
mimicking most of the behavior of qmail-smtpd, with the addition of
support for SMTP AUTH. The other rejects all SMTP commands if
$SMTPREJECT is set, and execs its command line otherwise (in order to
run the above program).
PoPToP is a PPTP daemon. It is compatible with the Microsoft Windows
VPN adapter.
Osiris is a Host Integrity Management System that periodically monitors
one or more hosts for change. It maintains detailed logs of changes to
the file system, user and group lists, resident kernel modules, and
more. Osiris can be configured to email these logs to the administrator.
Hosts are periodically scanned and, if desired, the records can be
maintained for forensic purposes. Osiris keeps an administrator apprised
of possible attacks and/or nasty little trojans. The purpose here is
to isolate changes that indicate a break-in or a compromised system.
Osiris makes use of OpenSSL for encryption and authentication in all
components.
Bareos (BackupArchivingRecoveryOpenSourced) is a reliable network open source
software to backup, archive and restore files from all major operating systems.
The fork was founded 2010 out of the bacula.org project. The fork has been
actively developed and many new features have been added.

EFlite is a speech server for Emacspeak and other screen readers that allows
them to interface with Festival Lite, a free text-to-speech engine developed at
the CMU Speech Center as an off-shoot of Festival. EFlite is still in beta,
but I have been using it successfully with Yasr to get speech on my notebook
under Linux without having to lug my Speak-out around. It uses Festival Lite's
code to interface with the sound driver and, therefore, should work with some
versions of ALSA, but I have only tested it with the OSS sound drivers so far.

QuickPage sends messages to a paging terminal using the SNPP and IXO
(also known as TAP) protocols. It is normally used with no options
other than a recipient and the message text, in which case the message
is sent to the SNPP server where it is submitted to a page queue to be
sent by a separate daemon process.
Page groups and duty schedules are supported. Status notification
messages indicating the success or failure of a page are sent via
e-mail to submitters of high-priority (level 0) pages.
