FVCool is the FreeBSD version of the famous VCool software
(http://vcool.occludo.net) which changes the PCI configuration data
of some chipsets and thus allows AMD Athlon/Duron CPUs to go into
power-save mode. This makes the CPU consume a lot less electric
energy, and it produces a lot less heat as well. This trick is not
a secret - on FreeBSD, you can actually achieve the same effect
which this software has using the "pciconf" command.
Please note that this software may have a negative impact on the
system's stability and thus should not be employed in production
or mission-critical environments.
adtool is a Unix command line utility for Active Directory administration.
Features include user and group creation, deletion, modification, password
setting and directory query and search capabilities.
This is an effort to create a unionfs filesystem implementation which is way
more flexible than the current in-kernel unionfs solution.
reversible hexdump is a hexdump/hex2bin-toolkit that dumps to a special
readable and reversible hexadecimal byte-dump,where you can not only change
bytes, but also insert or delete bytes. It has a flush-switch, where it will
output hexbytes for each single char it reads. This is especially useful for
watching output from slow devices (e.g., serial devices like mice). The
hex2bin-utility (the reverse-hexdump) not only accepts hexbytes for input,
but also double-quoted strings with most of the escape-chars known
from C and makes good attempts at undumping even hexdumps with repetition-lines
(a "*" on its own line). It's written in ANSI C.
iohyve creates, stores, manages, and launches bhyve guests utilizing built in
FreeBSD features. The idea is based on iocage, a jail manager utilizing some of
the same principles.
k8temp is a utility to read the on-die temperature sensors provided by
AMD K8 and K10 processors, including most Athlon 64's and Opterons.
The FreeBSD LiveCD Tool Set main goal is allowing one to generate
custom FreeBSD Live CDs. FreeBSD LiveCD was born as a Brazilian
FreeBSD User Group (www.fugspbr.org) project. The objective was to
create a tool that would allow us a safe diagnostic method under
emergency enviroments and specially as a rescue disk where FreeBSD
partitions could only be accessed (mounted) externally.
What is LiveCD? Its such a simple answer, it is nothing but a set
of patches applied to the FreeBSD Initialization files allowing the
system to run from a CDROM, setting the best way to either mount
under Memory File System (MFS) or Virtual Nodes (vnodes) those
filesystems that need Write and Read access. Slices that just need
Read access are still run from the CD.
Can I use it to install FreeBSD? Yes, with recent revision 1.2, it
can install a FreeBSD system without any other disks. It also support
batch operation mode for automated installation processes.
Is LiveCD any different from an ordinarily installed FreeBSD system?
It is a completely functional FreeBSD system just like any ordinarily
installed one. You will be able to both run any applications and
mount any filesystems as any FreeBSD system would allow you.

Memtest86+ is a stand-alone memory test for x86 architecture computers
based on the well-known original memtest86 written by Chris Brady.
Bacula is a set of computer programs that permit you (or the system
administrator) to manage backup, recovery, and verification of
computer data across a network of computers of different kinds.
In technical terms, it is a network Client/Server based backup program.
Bacula is relatively easy to use and efficient, while offering many
advanced storage management features that make it easy to find and
recover lost or damaged files. Due to its modular design, Bacula is
scalable from small single computer systems to systems consisting of
hundreds of computers located over a large network.
Oak is a program that can be used to monitor syslogs from a collection
of servers and notify operators when problem conditions arise. In
addition to providing immediate notification of critical problems oak
will also batch less critical problems into summary messages that can
be sent less often and via any medium. For example you may wish to
have oak page you on critical events while sending a summary of less
important messages to your terminal once an hour. In addition you
could send a daily email message summarizing all events.
