GNU MAC Changer is an utility that makes the maniputation of MAC addresses of network interfaces easier.

Bonjour, also known as zero-configuration networking, enables automatic discovery of devices and services on a local network using industry standard IP protocols. Bonjour makes it easy to discover, publish, and resolve network services with a sophisticated, yet easy-to-use, programming interface that is accessible from Cocoa, Ruby, Python, and other languages. The mDNSResponder project is a component of Bonjour, Apple's ease-of-use IP networking initiative.

The Multi-Generator (MGEN) is open source software by the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) PROTocol Engineering Advanced Networking (PROTEAN) Research Group. MGEN provides the ability to perform IP network performance tests and measurements using UDP/IP traffic (TCP is currently being developed). The toolset generates real-time traffic patterns so that the network can be loaded in a variety of ways. The generated traffic can also be received and logged for analyses. Script files are used to drive the generated loading patterns over the course of time. These script files can be used to emulate the traffic patterns of unicast and/or multicast UDP/IP applications. The receive portion of this tool set can be scripted to dynamically join and leave IP multicast groups. MGEN log data can be used to calculate performance statistics on throughput, packet loss rates, communication delay, and more.

Nifmon is a curses-based tool for FreeBSD which can be used to monitor network interfaces (also tun devices). It displays continously updated statistics for the following quantities: - total amount of bytes/packets transferred in/out - bytes/packets transferred in/out during the last second/minute/hour - a stripped down tcpdump output You will need super-user permissions in order to use nifmon.

nload is a console application which monitors network traffic and bandwidth usage in real time. It visualizes the in- and outgoing traffic using two graphs and provides additionally info like total amount of transfered data and min/max network usage.

This module provides methods for implementing a DHCP client. It allows perl scripts to interacts with DHCP servers. It's good for DHCP servers testing.
