Server framework
Serveez is a server framework. It provides routines and help for
implementing IP based servers (currently TCP, UDP and ICMP). It is also
possible to use named pipes for all connection oriented protocols. We
think it is worth the effort because many people need server
functionality within their applications. However, many people
experience problems with select()- or poll()-loops, and with
non-blocking operations. This application demonstrates various aspects
of advanced network programming in a portable manner. You can use it for
implementing your own servers or for understanding how certain network
services and operations work. The package includes a number of servers
that work already: an HTTP server, an IRC server, a Gnutella spider and
some others. One of the highlights is that you can run all protocols on
the same port. The application itself is single threaded but it uses
helper processes for concurrent name resolution and ident lookups.

Highly configurable, secure, and portable finger daemon
PFinger consists of server and client for the standard finger service.
The PFinger server is a replacement for the standard Unix finger server. It
also implements the pip-protocol which could become the finger v2 protocol.
Its advantage over existing finger servers like GNU Finger or similar
enhanced Finger servers are its configurability, compatibility and security
(e.g. the server does not run as root).
The Pfinger client can be used for several tasks: First it provides an easy
way to edit the information the PFinger Server gives out about you. Then it
can be used as graphical version of the standard finger client to monitor
who is online.
Network trace anonymizer
PKtAnon performs network trace anonymization. It is highly configurable
and uses anonymization profiles. Anonymization profiles allow for
mapping of arbitrary anonymization primitives to protocol attributes,
thus providing high flexibility and easy usability. A huge number of
anonymization primitives and network protocols are supported and ready
to use for online and offline anonymization.

The QOTD Daemon 'quoted' listens on the qotd port (17) and responds with
a randomly selected 'quote of the day' from a 'quotes' text file, which
you can update with quotes of your own. It will operate either as a
stand-alone daemon, or can also be invoked via inetd.
If you want, you can also have it listen on a different port, other than
the default 'qotd' port (17).

http_ping is like the regular ping(8) command, except that it sends
HTTP requests isntead of ICMP echo requests. I.e., it runs an HTTP
fetch every few seconds, timing how long they take.
