Nifmon is a curses-based tool for FreeBSD which can be used to monitor network
interfaces (also tun devices).
It displays continously updated statistics for the following quantities:
- total amount of bytes/packets transferred in/out
- bytes/packets transferred in/out during the last second/minute/hour
- a stripped down tcpdump output
You will need super-user permissions in order to use nifmon.
nload is a console application which monitors network traffic and bandwidth
usage in real time. It visualizes the in- and outgoing traffic using two graphs
and provides additionally info like total amount of transfered data and min/max
network usage.
ttb is a program to browse Teletekstpages from http://teletekst.nos.nl/
ntopng is a new generation flexible and feature-rich tool for monitoring and
troubleshooting local area networks. It provides command line and web
interfaces, the latter via an embedded web server. ntop is based on libpcap.
OSSP sa is an abstraction library for the Unix socket application
programming interface (API) featuring stream and datagram oriented
communication over Unix Domain and Internet Domain (TCP and UDP) sockets. It
provides the following key features: address abstraction (local, IPv4, and
IPv6), type abstraction, I/O timeouts, I/O stream buffering and convenience
I/O functions.
SOAP/Perl is a collection of Perl modules which provides a simple
and consistent application programming interface (API) to the
Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP).
PVM (Parallel Virtual Machine) is a portable message-passing programming
system, designed to link separate host machines to form a virtual machine
which is a single, manageable computing resource.
The virtual machine can be composed of hosts of different architectures,
located in physically remote locations. PVM applications can be composed
of any number of separate processes, or components, written in a mixture
of C, C++, and Fortran. The system is portable to a wide variety of
architectures, including workstations, multiprocessors, supercomputers,
and PCs.
This factory can be used by ResourcePool to create
SOAP::Lite objects which use the specified proxy
for SOAP RPC invocations.
passlogd is a purpose-built sniffer for capturing syslog messages
in transit. This allows for backup logging to be performed on a
machine with no open ports.
Pathneck is an active probing tool that can detect bottleneck location of
network path.
It only needs single end control, and has relatively small probing overhead
(33.6KB for one probing in the default setting).
