Where does the name come from?
The name "MATE" comes from yerba mate, a species of holly native
to subtropical South America. Its leaves contain caffeine and are
used to make infusions and a beverage called mate.

This metaport installs only MATE base (lite, a lean desktop) with
file manager without any of extra applications. If you want to
have the most common user MATE applications, please install the
x11/mate metaport.
This library offers a CPU-based synchronization primitive compatible
with the X SyncFence objects that can be shared between processes
using file descriptor passing.
This is a Linux/i386 binary port of the libraries from X.Org:

Stjerm is a roll-down, Quake-like terminal emulator that shows up on keyboard
shortcut, and hides away when not needed.
Temperature.app is a Window Maker dock application which
fetches local temperature information every 15 minutes from
ftp://weather.noaa.gov and displays it (in Celsius or Fahrenheit).
Terminal provides terminal emulation in a GNUstep environment. It gives

xgrab lets you grab arbitrary rectangular images from an X server and

the keyboard modifier map and keymap table in X.
