xcalib is a program that allows you to use ICC profiles (to load its 'vcgt'-tag) for X11 servers display calibration with XVidModeExtension supported (like X.org or XFree86 4.x.x). It can't create the profiles so you need to acquire them elsewhere (e.g. from some commercial program or from your display vendor). xcalib is a postcardware. This little program lets you change your Gtk+ 2.0 theme. The aim is to make theme preview and selection as slick as possible. Themes installed on the system are presented for selection and previewed on the fly. For a comprehensive demonstration there's a large variety of widgets. It was originally derived from Gtk Theme Switch, but what started out as a hack to remove various nuisances now shares no code whatsoever anymore with the original.

The Lumina Desktop Environment is a lightweight system interface that is designed for use on any Unix-like operating system. It takes a plugin-based approach, allowing the entire interface to be assembled or arranged by each individual user as desired, with a system-wide default layout which can be customized by the system administrator. This allows every system (or user session) to be designed to maximize the individual user's productivity.

KDE Base Applications consists of what runs on the desktop. This module isn't a complete collection of essential applications that a user would expect on a desktop (such as e-mail and calculator). This package is the basic set of applications beyond the workspace that KDE applications can assume are installed. These applications should have no problem running on Windows, OS X, Gnome, etc. as stand alone applications if the user wanted to use them there.

Apwal is a simple and powerful application launcher. It is composed in 2 parts: the application launcher itself and a good looking easy to use editor. Apwal is developed under GPL. It is written in C and is using the GTK+ toolkit for the Editor interface and XML format to save the configuration. To be able to launch the editor from inside apwal you need a mounted procfs.

Gromit (GRaphics Over MIscellaneous Things) is a small tool to make annotations on the screen. When making presentations of the Gimp I found myself often moving the mousepointer around the point of interest until hopefully everybody noticed it. This annoyed me, since it is a very vague way to highlight something. I dreamt of a small programm which allows me to simply draw on the screen, ignoring any window-borders.

The GNOME On-Screen Keyboard (GOK) is an accessibility interface that gives you control of your system without needing a keyboard. The GOK makes available a hierarchical button system that enables keyboardless entry of common accelerators, and contains a clickable keyboard that sports suggested autocompletion of many common words, and even some commands. The GOK will provide an alternative interface to common commands and functions within applications that utilize the AT SPI. The GOK is designed to be usable by many alternative input methods, i.e. not a common keyboard and mouse combination.
