naim is a console client for AOL Instant Messenger (AIM), AOL I Seek You
(ICQ), Internet Relay Chat (IRC), and The lily CMC.
It includes unique features like zero-configuration peer to peer encryption,
automatic message queueing, and incoming message modification (to correct
common spelling mistakes and expand common abbreviations; see /help filter).
It also includes powerful dynamic module support, allowing developers to
modify all major aspects of naim's behavior.
When combined with GNU Screen, naim is great to use as a chat client as
well as an answering machine. Individual users can detach, log out, pack
up and go home, then log back in from anywhere on the Internet to resume
their naim session.
Rsyslog is an enhanced multi-threaded syslogd with a focus on
security and reliability.
Among others, it offers support for on-demand disk buffering,
reliable syslog over TCP, SSL, TLS and RELP, writing to databases
(MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and many more), email alerting, fully
configurable output formats (including high-precision timestamps),
the ability to filter on any part of the syslog message, on-the-wire
message compression, and the ability to convert text files to syslog.
It is a drop-in replacement for stock syslogd and able to work with
the same configuration file syntax. Its advanced features make it
suitable for enterprise-class, encryption protected syslog relay
chains while at the same time being very easy to setup for the
novice user.

MultiTail lets you view one or multiple files like the original tail program.
The difference is that it creates multiple windows on your console (with
ncurses). It can also monitor wildcards: if another file matching the wildcard
has a more recent modification date, it will automatically switch to that file.
That way you can, for example, monitor a complete directory of files. Merging
of 2 or even more logfiles is possible. It can also use colors while displaying
the logfiles (through regular expressions), for faster recognition of what is
important and what not. It can also filter lines (again with regular
expressions). It has interactive menus for editing given regular expressions
and deleting and adding windows. One can also have windows with the output of
shell scripts and other software. When viewing the output of external software,
MultiTail can mimic the functionality of tools like 'watch' and such.
There's Pod::PXML and Pod::XML, so why do we need Pod::Xhtml? You need
an XSLT to transform XML into XHTML and many people don't have the
time or inclination to do this. But they want to make sure that the
pages they put on their web site are well-formed, they want those
pages to use stylesheets easily, and possibly they want to squirt the
XHTML through some kind of filter for more processing.
By generating well-formed XHTML straight away we allow anyone to just
use the output files as-is. For those who want to use XML tools or
transformations they can use the XHTML as a source, because it's a
well-formed XML document.

"pstack" is a workalike for the Solaris program of the same name.
Running pstack on a process produces a stack trace of
each thread in that process.
It's useful for finding out what wedged processes are up to, getting
profiles of applications, and just satisfying one's curiosity.
This plugin enables the scanning of incoming mail received from a POP,
IMAP, or LOCAL account using SpamAssassin. It can optionally delete mail
identified as spam or save it to a designated folder, and also can be used
to train a local SpamAssassin (or a remote one if SpamAssassin >= 3.1 is
installed both locally and remotely). According to your SpamAssassin server
configuration, it can show worse performance than Bogofilter, (slower,
eating more CPU), but can catch spam with better accuracy.
PDO driver for Apache Cassandra
Cassandra is a highly scalable, eventually consistent, distributed,
structured key-value store. Cassandra brings together the distributed
systems technologies from Dynamo and the data model from Google's
BigTable. Like Dynamo, Cassandra is eventually consistent. Like
BigTable, Cassandra provides a ColumnFamily-based data model richer
than typical key/value systems.

kcd allows user to change directory by using various methods:
- By using cursor keys to navigate through the directory tree
screen
- By searching in directory tree screen
- By typing part of the directory name directly at the
command line.
Other features include:
- Can be configured to filter out to some subdirectories,
useful for cdrom and msdos partition mounting points
- Can be configured to scan directory tree starting from some
specified directory inwards, for example, home directory.
- If the number directories that matches to the name given in
the command line exceeds a specified number, kcd displays
the whole list.
- Faster directory rescan if old data file exists. Only
directories with newer modified/changed time are scanned.
- Sorted directory tree listing.
