KDE Base Applications consists of what runs on the desktop. This
module isn't a complete collection of essential applications that a
user would expect on a desktop (such as e-mail and calculator). This
package is the basic set of applications beyond the workspace that KDE
applications can assume are installed. These applications should have
no problem running on Windows, OS X, Gnome, etc. as stand alone
applications if the user wanted to use them there.
Xdialog is designed to be a drop in replacement for the "dialog" or
"cdialog" programs. It converts any terminal based program into a
program with an X-windows interface. The dialogs are easier to see
and use while adding even more functionalities.
Terminology is an EFL terminal emulator with some extra bells and whistles.
The stalonetray is a STAnd-aLONE system tray (notification area).
It has minimal build and run-time dependencies: the Xlib only.
The XEMBED support is planned. Stalonetray runs under virtually
any window manager.
wbar is a quick launch bar. It is fast, light and cool eye-candy.
Initially developed for Fluxbox, then tested on WindowMaker, Xfce,
Gnome, etc.
It can run on top of desktops such as xfdesktop or nautilus with
the --above-desk switch.
Workrave is a program that assists in the recovery and prevention of
Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI). The program frequently alerts you to
take micro-pauses, rest breaks and restricts you to your daily limit.
These can be customized and it stops the counter when you stop.
Terminal is a modern terminal emulator for the Unix/Linux desktop,
primarily for the Xfce desktop environment. It's a lightweight emulator
based on the VTE widget, easy to use and provides an optional drop-down
window.
KDE is a powerful Free Software graphical desktop environment for Linux
and Unix workstations.
This package does not contain anything by itself -- it is a
"meta-port" that depends on other KDE packages. Its sole purpose is
to require dependencies so users can install this package only and
have all the KDE stuff pulled in by the port/package dependency mechanism.
This meta-package installs all X.Org applications.
