rtGui is a web based front end for rTorrent - a command line BitTorrent client. It's written in PHP and uses XML-RPC to communicate with the rTorrent client. BTPD is a bittorrent client consisting of a daemon and client commands, which can be used to read and/or manipulate the daemon state. The daemon is capable of running several torrents simultaneously and only uses one TCP port. It's fairly low on resource usage and should be perfect for file distribution sites. Efficient downloads and ease of use makes this client a good choice for the casual user as well.

Alarm Pinger (apinger) is a little tool which monitors various IP devices by simple ICMP echo requests. Unlike most Perl or shell script tools, it does not spawn processes or use much CPU time, and is ideal for when one wants continuous monitoring and fast response upon target failure. It is written in C and supports both IPv4 and IPv6.

sendfile(2) is a system call which provides a "zero-copy" way of copying data from one file descriptor to another (a socket). The phrase "zero-copy" refers to the fact that all of the copying of data between the two descriptors is done entirely by the kernel, with no copying of data into userspace buffers.
