Libvisual is an abstraction library that comes between applications and audio
visualisation plugins.
Often when it comes to audio visualisation plugins or programs that create
visuals, they depend on a player or something else; basically, there is no
general framework that enabled application developers to easily access cool
audio visualisation plugins. Libvisual wants to change this by providing an
interface towards plugins and applications; through this easy to use interface
applications can easily access plugins and, since the drawing is done by the
application, it also enables the developer to draw the visual anywhere he
wants.
The framework also allows you to morph to different plugins and mix two at
once; all kinds of neat tricks are possible using this method.

The ffmpeg-php is an extension for PHP that adds an easy to use, object-oriented
API for accessing and retrieving information from video and audio files. It has
methods for returning frames from movie files as images that can be manipulated
using PHP's image functions. This works well for automatically creating
thumbnail images from movies. ffmpeg-php is also useful for reporting the
duration and bitrate of audio files (mp3, wma...).
The ffmpeg-php can access many of the video formats supported by ffmpeg (mov,
avi, mpg, wmv...)
Gmerlin is a multimedia framework, which allows you to quickly
develop multimedia applications. It is built upon gavl (for low
level Audio/Video things) and libxml2 (for loading and saving
configuration data and other things). The gmerlin API can be used
at multiple levels: Either you take the basic things like plugins,
fifos, message-queues and gavl audio/video converters and build
your own media engine. The other possibility is to use the player
or transcoder engines directly. The latter approach is probably
easier, but you'll have less freedom in controlling the process.
Gmerlin includes GUI player with mediatree and a GUI transcoder
among other things.
