Parallel XZ is a compression utility that takes advantage of running LZMA
compression of different parts of an input file on multiple cores and
processors simultaneously.
Its primary goal is to utilize all resources to speed up compression time
with minimal possible influence on compression ratio.
Attic is a deduplicating backup program written in Python. The main goal of
Attic is to provide an efficient and secure way to backup data. The data
deduplication technique used makes Attic suitable for daily backups since only
the changes are stored.
unmass is a tool to extract game archives. It supports the following archive
types: Crimson Land, Baldur's Gate 2, Civilization 4, Doom (WADs), Dune 2,
Etherlords 2, Final Fantasy 7 and 8, Flashpoint, Knights of Xentar, Metal Gear
Solid (DARs), Moorhuhn 2 and 3, Megaman Legends, Oni, Operation Flashpoint,
Princess Maker 2, Quake 1, RollCage, Swine, Unreal Tournament umods, Virtua
Fighter bitmaps, MEA exe's, and some economy file formats.
Snappy is a compression/decompression library. It does not aim for maximum
compression, or compatibility with any other compression library; instead,
it aims for very high speeds and reasonable compression. For instance,
compared to the fastest mode of zlib, Snappy is an order of magnitude faster
for most inputs, but the resulting compressed files are anywhere from 20% to
100% bigger.
This package includes undms, a decompressor for the Amiga DMS disk image
format. It outputs ".adf" (11 sector per track, 80 tracks, 512
bytes/sector) uncompressed disk images which may be written directly to
disk on NetBSD/amiga or used with an Amiga emulator.
Viking is a free/open source program to manage GPS data.
You can import and plot tracks, routes and waypoints, show OpenStreetMap,
Terraserver, Bing Aerial and other maps in it, download geocaches for
an area on the map, make new tracks and waypoints, geotag images,
see real-time GPS position, etc.
KStars is a desktop planetarium for KDE. It provides an accurate
graphical simulation of the night sky, from any location on Earth, at
any date and time. The display includes up to 100 million stars,
13,000 deep-sky objects, all 8 planets, the Sun and Moon, and
thousands of comets and asteroids.
Nightfall is an astronomy application for fun, education, and science. It
can produce animated views of eclipsing binary stars, calculate synthetic
lightcurves and radial velocity curves, and eventually determine the
best-fit model for a given set of observational data of an eclipsing binary
star system. It is, however, not able to fry your breakfast egg on your
harddisk. ;-)
Astro::PAL provides a Perl interface to either the Starlink PAL positional
astronomy library.
Return values are returned on the stack rather than being modified in place.
In addition small utility subroutines are provided that do useful tasks (from
the author's point of view) - specifically routines for calculating the Local
Sidereal Time.
PyFITS provides an interface to FITS formatted files
under the Python scripting language. It is useful for
interactive data analysis and for writing analysis
scripts in Python using FITS files as either input or
output. PyFITS is a development project of the Science
Software Branch at the Space Telescope Science Institute.
