libspf2 implements the Sender Policy Framework, a part of the SPF/SRS
protocol pair. libspf2 is a library which allows email systems such as
Sendmail, Postfix, Exim, Zmailer and MS Exchange to check SPF records
and make sure that the email is authorized by the domain name that it
is coming from. This prevents email forgery, commonly used by spammers,
scammers and email viruses/worms.
libsrs2 is the next generation SRS library from the original designer of SRS.
It implements the Sender Rewriting Scheme, a part of the SPF/SRS protocol pair.
libvmime is a MIME manipulation library.
Sendmail implements a general purpose internetwork mail routing facility
under the UNIX operating system. It is not tied to any one transport
protocol - its function may be likened to a crossbar switch, relaying
messages from one domain into another. In the process, it can do a limited
amount of message header editing to put the message into a format that is
appropriate for the receiving domain. All of this is done under the
control of a configuration file.
Sendmail is a trademark of Sendmail, Inc.
The OpenChange MAPI library aims to provide interoperability with an
Open Source implementation of Microsoft Exchange protocols under UNIX/Linux.
The current implementation offers a client-side library which can be used in
existing messaging clients and offer native compatibility with Exchange Servers
up to 2007.
MAPI stands for Messaging Application Programming Interface and is used in the
Microsoft Exchange Server groupware server. This solution works with Outlook
and provides collaborative features such as a messaging server, shared
calendars, contact databases, public folders and tasks.
Mew is a user interface for text messages, multimedia messages(MIME),
news articles and security functionality including PGP, SSH and SSL.
MIMEDefang is a program for inspecting and modifying e-mail messages as
they pass through your mail relay. MIMEDefang is written in Perl, and its
filter actions are expressed in Perl, so it's highly flexible. Here are some
things that you can do very easily with MIMEDefang:
Delete or alter attachments based on file name, contents, results of a
virus scan, attachment size, etc.
Replace large attachments with links to a centrally-stored copy to ease
the burden on POP3 users with slow modem links.
Add boilerplate text to e-mail messages.
Customize filter rules based on domain, user-name, relay machine, etc.
Reject unacceptable messages, where you define what "unacceptable" means.
Add or delete recipients for a message.
The Cyrus IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) server provides access to
personal mail and system-wide bulletin boards through the IMAP protocol.
The Cyrus IMAP server is a scaleable enterprise mail system designed for use
from small to large enterprise environments using standards-based
technologies.
A full Cyrus IMAP implementation allows a seamless mail and bulletin board
environment to be set up across multiple servers. It differs from other
IMAP server implementations in that it is run on "sealed" servers, where
users are not normally permitted to log in. The mailbox database is stored
in parts of the filesystem that are private to the Cyrus IMAP system. All
user access to mail is through software using the IMAP, POP3, or KPOP
protocols.
The private mailbox database design gives the server large advantages in
efficiency, scalability, and administratability. Multiple concurrent
read/write connections to the same mailbox are permitted. The server
supports access control lists on mailboxes and storage quotas on mailbox
hierarchies.
Mutt -- "The Mongrel of Mail User Agents" (part Elm, part Pine, part mh,
part slrn, part everything else) is an interactive screen-oriented mailer
program that supersedes Elm, Pine, mail and mailx.
Features include color support, message threading, MIME support (including
RFC1522 support for encoded headers), customizable key bindings, POP3,
Delivery Status Notification (DSN) support, and PGP/MIME.

What is NeoMutt?
* NeoMutt is a project of projects.
* A place to gather all the patches against Mutt.
* A place for all the developers to gather.
Hopefully this will build the community and reduce duplicated effort.
