The Auto Nice Daemon activates itself in certain intervals and renices jobs
according to their priority and CPU usage. Jobs owned by root are left alone.
Jobs are never increased in their priority.
AND is very flexible. The renice intervals can be adjusted as well as the
default nice level and the activation intervals. A priority database stores
user/group/job tuples along with their renice values for three CPU usage time
ranges. Negative nice levels are interpreted as signals to be sent to a
process, triggered by CPU usage; this way, Netscapes going berserk can be
killed automatically. The strategy for searching the priority database can be
configured.
AND also provides network-wide configuration files with host-specific
sections, as well as wildcard/regexp support for commands in the priority
database.
Foremost is a console program to recover files based on their headers
and footers. Foremost can work on image files, such as those generated
by dd, Safeback, Encase, etc, or directly on a drive. The headers and
footers are specified by a configuration file, so you can pick and
choose which headers you want to look for.
WikipediaFS is a mountable Linux virtual file system that allows to

It is thus possible to view and edit articles using your favourite
text-editor. Text-editors tend to be more convenient than a simple
browser form when it comes to editing large texts and they generally
include useful features such as Mediawiki syntax highlighting and spell
checking.
Genetic Algorithm File Fitter, or just GAFFitter, is a command-line software
written in C++ that arranges -- via a genetic algorithm -- an input list of
items or files/directories into volumes of a certain capacity (target), such
as CD or DVD, in a way that the total wastage is minimized.
By smartly arranging the input list, GAFFitter fits better the given items
and so optimizes (reduces) the number of required volumes to pack them.
GUI application used to monitor UPS devices controlled by the APCUPSD package.
The program uses the NIS interface from apcupsd to collect event and status
information for display to the end-user. Because of this great interface,
this program can be executed on any OS supported machine and use the network
socket interface to connect back to apcupsd.
