Xinetd is a replacement for inetd, the internet services daemon.
Xinetd is not just an inetd replacement. Anybody can use it to
start servers that don't require privileged ports because xinetd
does not require that the services in its configuration file be
listed in /etc/services.
Its configuration file has a different format than inetd's one
and it understands different signals. However the signal-to-action
assignment can be changed.
KSH-93 is the most recent version of the KornShell Language described
in "The KornShell Command and Programming Language," by Morris
Bolsky and David Korn of AT&T Bell Laboratories. The KornShell is
a shell programming language, which is upward compatible with "sh"
(the Bourne Shell), and is intended to conform to the IEEE P1003.2/ISO
9945.2 Shell and Utilities standard. KSH-93 provides an enhanced
programming environment in addition to the major command-entry
features of the BSD shell "csh". With KSH-93, medium-sized programming
tasks can be performed at shell-level without a significant loss
in performance. In addition, "sh" scripts can be run on KSH-93
without modification.
Zsh is the Swiss Army knife of shells. It combines the most popular
features of every other shell, and then lets you customize every
inch of it. Users of bourne-style and C-style shells will feel at
home in it.
Zsh does intelligent completion, spell-checking, has a rich syntax
for precise globbing, and is fully extensible through plugin
systems.
To fire up the zsh completion system, type the following commands:
$ autoload -U compinstall
$ compinstall
BSDstats is an attempt to produce reasonably accurate statistics on
deployments of BSD operating systems. This is useful for marketing,
project advocacy, hardware vendors and purchasers, device driver
maintainers, and port maintainers.
The major problem that we are trying to address is vendors who do not
feel that BSD operating systems present enough of a market to bother
supporting.
Meant to be run monthly or during bootup, this script submits
statistics anonymously to a central server (http://bsdstats.org).
Potentially sensitive details like IP addresses and hostnames are not
stored by or relayed through the BSDstats server.
busybox is a set of common utilities built as a single
crunched binary, and sometimes stripped down in features
to fit the needs of embedded systems.
Byobu is a Japanese term for decorative, multi-panel screens that serve as
folding room dividers. As an open source project, Byobu is an elegant
enhancement of the otherwise functional, plain, practical GNU Screen. Byobu
includes an enhanced profile and configuration utilities for the GNU screen
window manager, such as toggle-able system status notifications.
cdrkit is a suite of programs for recording CDs and DVDs, blanking CD-RW media,
creating ISO-9660 filesystem images, extracting audio CD data, and more. The
programs included in the cdrkit package were originally derived from several
sources, most notably mkisofs by Eric Youngdale and others, cdda2wav by Heiko
Eissfeldt, and cdrecord by Joerg Schilling. However, cdrkit is not affiliated
with any of these authors; it is now an independent project.
Cfengine is an automated suite of programs for configuring and
maintaining Unix-like computers. Cfengine-masterfiles contains sample
cfengine policies for installations and upgrades.
This is an Afterstep look & feel CPU statistics monitor tool.
