SHED (Simple Hex EDitor) is a hex editor written for Unix-like systems using ncurses, with a friendly pico-style interface. It shows data in ASCII, hex, dec, oct and binary, and allows editing in all of these bases. Its features also include searching and dumping.

Apart from all the features Notepad has, tpad adds plugins to invoke some common text utilities without leaving the editor, an Ascii table, a tip database and support for regexps. It also is fully configurable. The executable `tpad' is a wish(1) shell script.

Tweak is a hex editor. It allows you to edit a file at very low level, letting you see the full and exact binary contents of the file. It can be useful for modifying binary files such as executables, editing disk or CD images, debugging programs that generate binary file formats incorrectly, and many other things.

The library with-editor makes it easy to use the Emacsclient as the $EDITOR of child processes, making sure they know how to call home. For remote processes a substitute is provided, which communicates with Emacs on standard output instead of using a socket as the Emacsclient does.

SciTE is a SCIntilla based Text Editor. Originally built to demonstrate Scintilla, it has grown to be a generally useful editor with facilities for building and running programs. It is best used for jobs with simple configurations - I use it for building test and demonstration programs as well as SciTE and Scintilla, themselves.

Dynagen is a front-end for use with the Dynamips Cisco router emulator. It uses an INI-like configuration file to provision Dynamips emulator networks. It takes care of specifying the right port adapters, generating and matching up those pesky NIO descriptors, specifying bridges, frame-relay, ATM switches, etc. It also provides a management CLI for listing devices, suspending and reloading instances, etc.

Mtools is a collection of utilities for accessing MS-DOS disks from Unix without mounting them. It supports Win95 style long file names, OS/2 Xdf disks, ZIP/JAZ disks, and 2m disks (store up to 1992k on a high density 3 1/2" disk).

Nestopia is a portable NES/Famicom emulator written in C++. Nestopia UE (Undead Edition) is a fork of the original source code, with enhancements from members of the emulation community. This includes support for new platforms, and bug fixes in the emulator core.

This package allows you to read files from Veritas Journaled Filesystem. Current version seems to support versions 2 and 4 (and 3, but this version was never released, AFAIK). I don't plan a write version, because I don't know journal log structure and I have *no* time to play with it. But I plan a Linux kernel implementation.

Wine implements its own version of Internet Explorer which is based on a custom version of Mozilla's Gecko Layout Engine. This engine is downloaded automatically the first time a web page is loaded unless, as done by this port, the engine is pre-installed on the user's system.
