PPPoE (Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet) is a protocol used
by many ADSL service providers. Roaring Penguin's PPPoE software
is a reliable program for connecting Unix systems to PPPoE service
providers without requiring any kernel patches.
Note that this port has had little testing (it works on 5-CURRENT
to access T-Online in Germany from the client side) and the server side
is entirely untested.
Scribe is a server for aggregating log data streamed in real time from a large
number of servers. It is designed to be scalable, extensible without
client-side modification, and robust to failure of the network or any specific
machine.

Shmux is program for executing the same command on many hosts in parallel. For
each target, a child process is spawned by shmux, and a shell on the target
obtained one of the supported methods: rsh, ssh, or sh. The output produced by
the children is received by shmux and either (optionally) output in turn to the
user using an easy to read format, or written to files for later processing
making it well suited for use in scripts.
WHAT IS IT?
Traff is a program that attaches itself to one or more
network interfaces, sniffs all IP-packages passing at it and
accounts each packets size. The collected information can be
dumped to a mysql-Database, for further processing.
The configuration is very flexible, allowing you to create
different/multiple accounting rules.

phpLDAPadmin is a web-based LDAP client. It provides easy,
anywhere-accessible, multi-language administration for your LDAP
server. Its hierarchical tree-viewer and advanced search functionality
make it intuitive to browse and administer your LDAP directory. Since
it is a web application, this LDAP browser works on many platforms,
making your LDAP server easily manageable from any
location. phpLDAPadmin is the perfect LDAP browser for the LDAP
professional and novice alike. Its user base consists mostly of LDAP
administration professionals.
This application uses an ICMP ping/reply scheme to periodically poll a number
of interfaces. The results are displayed as a matrix of leds, that are green
if the interface is alive, yellow if it did not respond once, and flashing red
if it keeps not responding.
You can easily check which system corresponds to each led by pointing the mouse
over the leds.
It is intended to be run from the WindowMaker dock, and it can monitor up to
63 interfaces.
rawdog is an RSS Aggregator Without Delusions Of Grandeur.
Written in Python, it uses Mark Pilgrim's feed parser. It runs from
cron, collects articles from a number of feeds, and generates a
static HTML page listing the newest articles in date order. It
supports per-feed customizable update times, and uses ETags,
Last-Modified, and gzip compression to minimize network bandwidth
usage.
rawdog's output format is similar to that of PyDS and Hep.
suck feeds news to local INN or CNEWS server without the remote NNTP feeding.
This is useful, if you get news from NNTP server with dialup connection.
Suck is a program used to grab news from a remote NNTP news server and
bring it to your local machine, without the remote server doing
anything special. If you have read permission on the server, you can
use suck. Suck does NOT use the NEWNEWS command, hated by many
administrators.
This is a set of Perl 5 modules for reading, manipulating, and
writing the .prc and .pdb database files used by PalmOS devices such
as the PalmPilot.
It is fairly easy to extend the functionality of this package
by writing parsers for any .pdb type that you like. This package
includes sample modules to parse the databases created by the built-in
applications (Address, Datebook, Mail, Memo, ToDo).
These modules were written to support ColdSync, a Palm
synchronization tool for Unix.
abc2mtex converts the "abc" music notation into MusiXTeX format. This
can help simplifying writing tunes in a TeX format.
The abc2mtex user documentation is installed as
${PREFIX:-/usr/local}/share/texmf/doc/abc2mtex/usrguide.ps, and a few
examples can be found there in another subdirectory called `examples'.
Note that the original programs `search' and `sort_in' have been
renamed to `abc_search' and `abc_sort_in', respectively, to make their
purpose clearer.
