The gem5 simulator is a modular platform for computer system
architecture research, encompassing system-level architecture
as well as processor microarchitecture.
A Sega Genesis/CD/32X emulator that uses the SDL library and has a GTK
user interface.
Graphical Cisco network simulator using Dynamips, Dynagen and Pemu.
Important notice: users have to provide their own Cisco IOS/IPS/PIX/ASA/JunOS

Hercules is an open source software implementation of the mainframe System/370
and ESA/390 architectures, in addition to the new 64-bit z/Architecture.
Hercules runs under Linux, Windows, Solaris, FreeBSD, and Mac OS X.
Hercules was created by Roger Bowler and is maintained by Jay Maynard. Jan
Jaeger designed and implemented many of the advanced features of Hercules,
including dynamic reconfiguration, integrated console, interpretive execution
and z/Architecture support.
Hu-Go! is a PC Engine (TurboGrafx 16) emulator originally coming from
FPCE, with various enhancements from many other emulators.
PPSSPP is a HLE ("high level emulation") emulator, it simulates the
PSP OS as seen by the game rather than the full hardware. A program
running on the PSP OS can send raw display lists to the graphics
chips, but can't access the flash controller or the Media Engine
directly, instead it has to go through libraries and the PSP OS
kernel. We simply simulate these. This is a lot of work though, the
PSP OS is large and has plenty of functionality so achieving 100%
compatibility is difficult bordering on the impossible. We can get
close though.
VirtualBox is a family of powerful x86 virtualization products for
enterprise as well as home use. Not only is VirtualBox an extremely
feature rich, high performance product for enterprise customers, it
is also the only professional solution that is freely available as
Open Source Software under the terms of the GNU General Public License.
MESS is an acronym that stands for Multi Emulator Super System. MESS will
more or less faithfully reproduce computer and console systems on a PC.
MESS can currently emulate over 250 systems from the last 5 decades.
MESS emulates the hardware of the systems and sometimes utilizes ROM
images to load programs and games. Therefore, these systems are NOT
simulations, but the actual emulations of the hardware.
Pipelight is a wrapper for using Windows plugins in FreeBSD browsers
and therefore giving you the possibility to access services which
are otherwise not available for FreeBSD users.
This is a port of PlayOnLinux to FreeBSD. It allows you to easily install
and use numerous games and apps designed to run with Microsoft Windows.
The Windows emulation is provided by Wine.
