nxtvepg - Decoder, Browser and Analyzer for the Nextview
Electronic Programme Guide
nxtvepg is an X11 application to decode, analyze and browse TV programme
schedules transmitted on analog TV channels as defined in ETS 300 707:
"Protocol for a TV Guide using electronic data transmission" by the European
Telecommunications Standards Institute.
nxtvepg enables you to obtain free TV programme listings for all of the major
networks in Germany, Austria, France and Switzerland.
Currently Nextview EPG is transmitted by the following TV networks (note that
each of these EPGs cover not only the provider's programme but also that of many
other networks): Kabel1, 3Sat, RTL-II (Germany and Austria), SF1, TSR1, TSI1,
EuroNews (Switzerland), Canal+, M6 (France), TRT-1 (Turkey).
You will need a bktr(4) compatible tv tuner card with teletext support in order
to use nxtvepg.
It is recommended to check the card's setup before using nxtvepg, e.g. with the
following applications from the ports collection:
multimedia/fxtv for tv tuner and misc/alevtv for Teletext support.
This program is to download multimedia streaming files.
Currently it supports following protocols.
* mmst (Microsoft Media Server over TCP)
* mmsh (MMS over HTTP)
* http (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol)
* real-rtsp (Real Time Streaming Protocol / Real/helix)
* wms-rtsp (Real Time Streaming Protocol / WMServer)
* ftp (File Transfer Protocol)
OpenQuicktime aims to be a portable library for handling Apple's
QuickTime(TM) popular media files on Unix-like environments. This
project was firstly designed to allow the porting of the 3ivx codec
on any Unix, but is now a completely separate and fully Open Source
project. Details:
- OpenQuicktime library contains no embedded codecs but has a
plugin system to dynamically load audio and video codecs.
- OpenQuicktime contains no colorspace conversion algorithm.
- OpenQuicktime is fully portable and fully configurable with all
the autoconfigure and automake magic we have been able to add.
- OpenQuicktime supports compressed headers (decoding only for the
moment).
- OpenQuicktime supports Quicktime Sound System version 2.
- OpenQuicktime can support any inputs and outputs (file, HTTP,
FTP, RTP, ...), in fact the functions used to read, write and
seek are overloadable.
- OpenQuicktime has an overloadable plugin mechanism. This is a
complex feature which enables any application to use its own
codecs instead of the OpenQuicktime ones.
OGMRip is an application and a set of libraries for ripping and encoding DVD
into DivX/OGM files using a wide variety of codecs. It relies on mplayer,
mencoder, ogmtools, oggenc and lame to perform its tasks.
The GUI features a clean HIG-compliant GNOME 2 interface and tries to minimize
as much as possible esoteric settings.

OQTEncoder is just here to show how simple it is to realize an
encoder using OpenQuicktime... It is simple, new and doesn't have
a lot of functionality but it should soon be better and it's already
usable ;)
Just launch it without options and it will explain you how to use
it ;). Here follows a simple example to encode any mpeg file using
the great program mpeg2dec from Aaron Holzman:
mpeg2dec -s -o pgmpipe test.mpg | oqtencoder -V jpeg test.mov
OQTPlayer is a very very small, even not functional, very very
buggy video player that uses OpenQuicktime and the SDL library.
It is just a example to see how easy it is to use the OpenQuicktime
library. Really!
py-ffmpeg includes a specific Python wrapper to decode audio / video,
implemented to be as portable as possible. The goal is to use it for a
core provider in the Kivy project, on android platform.
cclive is a lightweight command line video extraction tool for YouTube and
other similar video websites. It is a rewrite of the clive software in C++
with lower system footprint and fewer dependencies. It works closely with
the quvi project to workaround the Flash technology that is being utilized
by different media hosts to deliver the content.
While being primarily a video download tool, it can also be used alongside
with some video players, e.g. mplayer, for viewing streamed videos instead
of the Adobe flash player.

recmpeg is a simple video encoder, based on libfame, which compresses raw
video sequences to MPEG video.
