Libfreehand is library providing ability to interpret and import Adobe/Macromedia drawings into various applications

libgphoto2 is a library that can be used by applications to access various digital cameras.

This is a tiny library for decoding PhotoCD images. Its not exactly new, it exists for years. I've just released it separately for the first time now. It used to come bundled with xpcd.

VIPS's a free image processing system. It aims to be about half way between Excel and Photoshop. It's obviously much smaller than these two, but it's not a toy either (about 200k lines of code). It's very bad at photo retouching, but it's great (much better than programs like Photoshop, I think) at all the other things you use photoshop for. It's particularly good with large images (ie. images larger than the amount of RAM in your machine), and for working with colour.

This program generates images from mathematical functions, draws them on the SVGAlib screen, and cycles the palette. The images are intended to have a hypnotic effect. After exiting the program, you must switch consoles before the display will be usable again.

Skanlite is a simple image scanning application that does nothing more than scan and save images. Skanlite can open a save dialog for every image scanned or save the images immediately in a specified directory with auto-generated names and format. The user can also choose to show the scanned image before saving.

Gnash is a GNU Flash movie player. Previously, it was only possible to play flash movies with proprietary software. While there are some other free flash players, none support anything beyond SWF v4. Gnash is based on GameSWF, and supports many SWF v7 features. - Runs standalone Gnash can run standalone to play flash movies. - Browser plugin Gnash can also run as a plugin from within most Mozilla derived browsers, such as Firefox. Gnash also has support for Konqueror. - SWF v7+ compliant Gnash can play many current flash movies. - Streaming Video Gnash supports the viewing of streaming video from popular video sharing sites like Lulu.tv or YouTube.com. - XML Message server Gnash also supports an XML based message system as documented in the Flash Format specification. - High Quality Output Gnash uses OpenGL for rendering the graphics on the desktop, and AntiGrain (AGG) for embedded framebuffer only devices. - Free Software Gnash is 100% free software. You can write wrappers for any development library, and import them into the player.
