Aubio is a library for audio labelling. Its features include segmenting a
sound file before each of its attacks, performing pitch detection, tapping
the beat, and producing midi streams from live audio. The name aubio comes
from 'audio' with a typo: several transcription errors are likely to be
found in the results too.
The aim of this project is to provide these automatic labelling features to
other audio software. Functions can be used offline in sound editors and
software samplers, or online in audio effects and virtual instruments.
Beast is a powerful music composition and modular synthesis
application. It supports a wide range of standards in the field, such
as MIDI, WAV/AIFF/MP3/OggVorbis/etc audio files and LADSPA modules. It
has excellent technical abilities like multitrack editing, unlimited
undo/redo support, real-time synthesis support, 32bit audio rendering,
full duplex support, multiprocessor support, precise timing down to
sample granularity, on demand loading of partial wave files, on the
fly decoding and full scriptability in scheme. The plugins, synthesis
core and the user interface are actively being developed and
translated into a variety of languages, regularly assimilating user
feedback such as from our FeatureRequests page.

XBMC team decided to fork ShairPort and make it into a library.
What it is

This program emulates an AirPort Express for the purpose of streaming music from
iTunes and compatible iPods. It implements a server for the Apple RAOP protocol.
ShairPort does not support AirPlay v2 (video and photo streaming).
It supports multiple simultaneous streams, if your audio output chain (as
detected by libao) does so.
LMMS aims to be a free alternative to popular (but commercial and
closed-source) programs like FruityLoops, Cubase and Logic giving you the
ability of producing music with your computer by creating cool loops,
synthesizing and mixing sounds, arranging samples, having more fun with your
MIDI keyboard and much more...
LMMS combines the features of a tracker/sequencer program (pattern/channel/
sample/song/effect management) and those of powerful synthesizers and samplers
in a modern, user-friendly and easy to use graphical user interface.
MuseScore is a free cross-platform WYSIWYG music notation program
that offers a cost-effective alternative to commercial programs
such as Sibelius and Finale.

nekobee is a DSSI soft synth plugin that emulates the sound of the
TB-303 Bassline. It is not an exact copy; rather than make it "just like
the real thing", the design concentrates on modelling the circuitry and
was adjusted by comparing the sounds achievable with it to those heard
on classic acid house tracks. It includes a switchable square/saw wave
VCO, 24dB/octave VCF, an adjustable decay time for the VCF, a fixed
decay time for the VCA, and an interesting bit of circuitry around the
"Accent" control.
This package includes two programs for adjusting sound mixers: xmixer, which
uses the Athena toolkit, and xgmixer, based on GTK+. From the README:
Features:
* For every device which is supported by the sound card you can
change the volume via a slider. Unsupported devices are not shown.
* Select the input device(s) for recording.
* On startup a configuration file is read which restores device
settings.
* With a menu option you can save the current settings for the next

Filebench is quick to set up and use unlike many of the commercial
benchmarks which it can emulate. It is also a handy tool for
micro-benchmarking storage subsystems and studying the relationships of
complex applications such as relational databases with their storage
without having to incur the costs of setting up those applications,
loading data and so forth.
Filebench uses loadable workload personalities in a common framework to
allow easy emulation of complex applications upon file systems. The
workload personalities use a Workload Definition Language to define the
workload's model.
Httperf is a tool for measuring web server performance. It provides a flexible
facility for generating various HTTP workloads and for measuring server
performance.
The focus of httperf is not on implementing one particular benchmark but on
providing a robust, high-performance tool that facilitates the construction of
both micro- and macro-level benchmarks. The three distinguishing characteristics
of httperf are its robustness, which includes the ability to generate and
sustain server overload, support for the HTTP/1.1 and SSL protocols, and its
extensibility to new workload generators and performance measurements.
NoSQL Benchmark (nb) is a multi-threaded benchmark tool for evaluating main
database performance metrics using OLTP-alike benchmarking against
a specified workload.
