dvdbackup is a tool to rip video DVDs from the command line. It has the
advantages of being small, fast, and easy to use.
CD/DVD error recovery tool
The dvdisaster project:
dvdisaster provides a margin of safety against data loss on CD and DVD media
caused by aging or scratches.
* dvdisaster creates error correction data to compensate read errors which
are not correctable in the CD/DVD drive.
* dvdisaster tries to read as much data as possible from defective media.
Afterwards unreadable sectors are recovered using the previously created
error correction data. The maximum error correction capacity is
user-selectable.
* dvdisaster operates at the image level and does not depend on the file
system.
If you create the error correction data in time and keep it at a safe place,
you have a good chance of recovering the medium contents from typical read
errors and to transfer your complete data onto a new medium.

The Event Notify Test Runner is a general-purpose UNIX utility intended to make
rapid feedback and automated testing natural and completely ordinary by running
arbitrary commands when files change
Ms event log viewer
evtViewer - A PERL-based viewer for Ms event (*.evt) log files.

Change Password Utility for LDAP
CPU is an LDAP user management tool written in C and loosely based
on FreeBSD's pw(8). The goal of CPU is to be a suitable replacement
of the useradd/usermod/userdel utilities for administrators using
an LDAP backend and wishing to have a suite of command line tools
for doing the administration.
Limit the CPU usage of a process
The cpulimit program throttles back a process's CPU usage. This allows the
user to slow down jobs that would otherwise choke the processor. It is also
helpful on laptops where we want to avoid generating a lot of heat.
Partition-selectable boot loader for IBM-PC/AT compatibles
Extipl is a partition-selectable boot loader/installer which
makes coexistence of several operating systems on your machine.
This program works only IBM-PC/AT compatible computers.
Fetch and convert new messages of a logfile
The fetchlog utility displays the last new messages of a logfile.
It is similar like tail (1) but offers some extra functionality like
pattern matching with regular expressions or output formatting. To show
only the new messages appeared since the last call fetchlog uses a
bookmark to remember which messages have been fetched.
fetchlog works on syslog generated logfiles as well as other logfiles.
fetchlog can be used standalone or as a Nagios (TM) plugin. Together
with Net-SNMP one can look at/monitor new messages in remote logfiles.

Utility to determine file type
File tests each argument in an attempt to classify it. There are three sets of
tests, performed in the following order:
- filesystem tests
- magic number tests
- language tests
The first test that succeeds causes the file type to be printed.
