Cfengine is an automated suite of programs for configuring and
maintaining Unix-like computers. It has been used on computing arrays
of between 1 and 20,000 computers since 1993 by a wide range of
organizations. Cfengine is supported by active research and was the
first autonomic, hands-free management system for Unix-like operating
systems. Cfengine is an autonomic maintenance system not merely a
change management roll-out tool. Cfengine has a history of security
and adaptability.
KRename is a powerful batch renamer for KDE. It allows you to easily
rename hundreds or even more files in one go. The filenames can be
created by parts of the original filename, numbering the files or
accessing hundreds of informations about the file, like creation
date or Exif informations of an image.
Tarsnap is an online encrypted backup service. It presents a tar-like
command-line interface, but stores data online rather than locally;
using ideas taken from the author's FreeBSD Update and Portsnap
utilities, it maximizes performance by recognizing duplicate data and
only storing it once, and cryptographically encrypts and signs archives
using locally-held keys in order to guarantee that nobody without access
to the key file (including the author) can read or modify archives.

- Linux EXT2/EXT3
- Linux SWAP (version 1 and 2)
- NTFS (Windows NT/W2K/XP)

- UFS (BSD)
- Netware
- ReiserFS
TestDisk is under GNU Public License.
You can compile it under Dos with DJGPP or under Linux or BSD with gcc.
This is a port of Box Backup, an online backup daemon
The backup daemon, bbackupd, runs on all machines to be backed up. The
store server daemon, bbstored runs on a central server. Data is sent
to the store server, which stores all data on local filesystems, that
is, only on local hard drives. Tape or other archive media is not
used.
The system is designed to be easy to set up and run, and cheap to use.
Once set up, there should be no need for user or administrative
intervention, apart from usual system maintenance.
Usermin is a web interface that can be used by any user on a Unix
system to easily perform tasks like reading mail, setting up SSH
or configuring mail forwarding. It can be thought of as a simplified
version of Webmin designed for use by normal users rather than
system administrators.
Zxfer is a fork of zfs-replicate. It allows the easy and reliable backup,
restore or transfer of ZFS filesystems, either locally or remotely.
Some of the features zxfer has:
* Written in sh with only one dependency, rsync. Rsync mode is not used
in a typical restore, hence in that situation all you need is the
zxfer script, your backup and an install CD/DVD.
* Reliability is first priority - the only methods of transfer allowed
are those that checksum/hash the transferred data.
* Transfer to or from a remote host via ssh.
* Recursive and incremental transfer of filesystems (via snapshots).
* Transfer properties and sources of those properties (e.g. local or
inherited).
* Override properties in the transfer, e.g. for archival purposes
it is useful to override "copies" and "compression".
* Create all filesystems on the destination as necessary.
* A comprehensive man page with examples.
* Can be set to beep on error or when done, useful for long transfers.
* Features an rsync mode for when two different snapshotting regimes are on
source and destination, and zfs send/receive won't work.
