mu4e is an Emacs frontend for mu, a tool for dealing with e-mail messages stored in the Maildir-format, on Unix-like systems.

OpenDMARC is an open source implementation of Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting & Conformance, or DMARC. It builds on the successes of technologies such as DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) and the Sender Policy Framework (SPF) to create an infrastructure that enforces policy on domain names that are visible to end users, and creates a feedback framework for identifying and tracking fraudulent use of domain names in email. It includes a library for handling DMARC record parsing, a database schema and tools for aggregating and processing transaction history to produce DMARC reports, and a filter that ties it all together with an MTA using the milter protocol.

Courier-IMAP is a server that provides IMAP access to Maildir mailboxes. This IMAP server does NOT handle traditional mailbox files (/var/spool/mail, and derivatives), it was written for the specific purpose of providing IMAP access to Maildirs. Courier-IMAP implements some extensions to the basic Maildir mail storage format in order to support some additional features, such as folders and "soft" quotas. This is done in a way that's backwards compatible with the standard Maildir users (although, of course, they will ignore the additional features). Other software that understands and uses the same Maildir extensions is SqWebMail, and maildrop. Quick Spam Filter (qsf) is a small, fast spam filter that works by learning to recognise the words that are more likely to appear in spam than non-spam. It is intended to be used in a procmail recipe to mark email as being possible spam.

the popa3d goals ================ Is a POP3 daemon by Solar Designer. Well, the goals themselves are obvious; they're probably the same for most other POP3 servers as well. It's their priority that differs. For popa3d, the goals are: 1. Security (to the extent that is possible with POP3 at all, of course). 2. Reliability (again, as limited by the mailbox format and the protocol). 3. RFC compliance (slightly relaxed to work with real-world POP3 clients). 4. Performance (limited by the more important goals, above). This port is installed to be run from inetd, which is sufficient for normal usage. However, it is possible to build a stand-alone version, should you need better performance.

maildrop is a replacement for your local mail delivery agent, similar to mail/procmail. - maildrop reads a mail message from standard input, then delivers the message to your mailbox. - maildrop will optionally read instructions from a file, which describes how to filter incoming mail. Instructions can be provided having mail delivered to alternate mailboxes, or forwarded somewhere else. Unlike procmail, maildrop uses a structured filtering language. - maildrop knows how to deliver mail to mbox-style mailboxes and maildirs. - maildrop is written in C++, and handles resources more efficiently. maildrop can be used with sendmail, qmail, and other MTAs.
