Polkit is a toolkit for defining and handling authorizations. It is used
for allowing unprivileged processes to speak to privileged processes.
This is pstree. It is a small program that shows the ps
listing as a tree (as the name implies...). It has several options
to make selection criteria and to change the output style.
For that it uses the output of /bin/ps.
s6 is a small suite of programs for UNIX, designed to allow process
supervision (a.k.a service supervision), in the line of daemontools and
runit.
filelike is a Python module for building and manipulating file-like
objects.
This module takes care of the groundwork for implementing and manipulating
objects that provide a rich file-like interface, including reading,
writing, seeking and iteration. It also provides a number of useful
classes built on top of this functionality.
Spot The Difference is a file integrity checker. Its goal is to detect signs of
intrusion by looking for suspicious changes in system files. Crackers, in fact,
to do their evil or just to make sure they can work their way back into the
system, often change some configuration files, executables and/or log files
(usually with rootkits); thus leaving signs of the break-in.
rdiff-backup backs up one directory to another, possibly over a network. The
target directory ends up a copy of the source directory, but extra reverse
diffs are stored in a special subdirectory of that target directory, so you
can still recover files lost some time ago. The idea is to combine the best
features of a mirror and an incremental backup. rdiff-backup also preserves
subdirectories, hard links, dev files, permissions, uid/gid ownership (if it
is running as root), and modification times. Finally, rdiff-backup can operate
in a bandwidth efficient manner over a pipe, like rsync. Thus you can use
rdiff-backup and ssh to securely back a hard drive up to a remote location,
and only the differences will be transmitted.
This port tracks the development branch 1.3.

realsync daemon with rsync and python:
- config support /usr/local/etc/realsync.cfg
- e-mail stats support
- threads support
- threads wait support
SCSI / firewire harddrive spindown daemon
This is a small program for handling automated spinning down of
SCSI harddrives. With SCSI devices it is not as common to spindown
for power management purposes as for ATA however it might be required
to spin down a disk contained in a firewire enclosure for instance.
Screen is a full-screen window manager that multiplexes a physical terminal
between several processes (typically interactive shells).
Each virtual terminal provides the functions of a DEC VT100 terminal and, in
addition, several control functions from the ANSI X3.64 (ISO 6429) and ISO
2022 standards (e.g. insert/delete line and support for multiple character
sets). There is a scrollback history buffer for each virtual terminal and a
copy-and-paste mechanism that allows moving text regions between windows.
