WMApp is a C++ based library for writing WindowMaker-style dockapps. To write
a dockapp, it is generally necessary to perform some magic Xlib incantations,
supply a clipping mask, and set up X event checking. Like larger graphics
libraries such as GTK+ and Qt, WMApp automates this process by providing the
classes and functions necessary for widget creation and callbacks. The library
provides numerous widgets, all with the traditional dockapp appearance. Many
common dockapps could already be rewritten to use this library.
wxWidgets (formerly known as wxWindows) is a C++ GUI framework for platform
independent software development. On FreeBSD the Gtk toolkit is used.

This is the source distribution of XForms, a graphical user interface
toolkit for X Window Systems. It should work under X11 R4, R5 & R6.
XForms features a rich set of objects, such as buttons, scrollbars,
and menus etc. integrated into an easy and efficient object/event
callback execution model that allows fast and easy construction of
X-applications. In addition, the library is extensible and new objects
can easily be created and added to the library.
wxPython is a GUI toolkit for the Python programming language. It allows Python
programmers to create programs with a robust, highly functional graphical user
interface, simply and easily. It is implemented as a Python extension module
(native code) that wraps the popular wxWidgets cross platform GUI library, which
is written in C++.
This is a stable version of AfterStep. AfterStep is a NeXTstep style
window manager and features quick easy configuration of the look and
feel of your setup without the use of a .steprc file. Configuration in
most cases is far easier than it used to be. There are a few small bugs,
but this release is fairly stable. Included are a number of AfterStep
applications including asclock, ascd, and xiterm. There are a number of
other very Linux specific applications which are not at present included.
AfterStep is a continuation of the BowMan window manager which was
originally put together by Bo Yang. BowMan was based on the fvwm window
manager, written by Robert Nation. Fvwm was based on code from twm. And so
on... It is designed to emulate some of the look and feel of the NeXTstep
user interface, while adding useful, requested, and neat features. The
changes which comprise AfterStep's personality were originally part of
BowMan development, but due to a desire to move past simple emulation and
into a niche as its own valuable window manager, the current designers
decided to change the project name and move on. BowMan development may
continue, but we will no longer be a part of it.
Major changes from fvwm are:
- NeXTstep-like title bar, title buttons, borders and corners. BowMan's
Wharf is a much worked-out version of GoodStuff. To avoid copyright
complications it is not called a "dock."
- NeXTstep style menu. However, the menus are not controlled by
applications; they are more of pop-up service lists on the root window.
- NeXTstep style icons. These styles are hard-coded in the program, which is
good for the consistent look of the NeXTstep interface.
awesome is a tiling window manager initially based on a dwm code
rewriting. It's extremely fast, small, dynamic and awesome.
Windows can be managed in several layouts: tiled and floating. Each
layout can be applied on the fly, optimizing the environment for the
application in use and the task performed.
Managing windows in tiled mode assures that no space will be waste on
your screen. No gaps, no overlap.
This port contains the older and somewhat static 2.x branch of the
awesome window manager. If you prefer the latest stable version, try the
x11-wm/awesome port.
bbkeys is the keygrabber for the Blackbox window manager: bbkeys handles all
keybindings and keyboard shortcuts for Blackbox. It uses Blackbox' Image
classes for rendering its look and feel so that bbkeys will render itself to
match whatever Blackbox style is used. It is highly configurable either via
the "bbconf" GUI utility or by hand-editting bbkeys's config file.
bbpager is a pager tool for Blackbox, it uses KDE wm-hints to get the
information from Blackbox.
