Simple antivirus solution for a mail system
Avcheck is a simple program that allows you to call an antivirus software in order to check mail messages for viruses before actual delivery from within a Mail Transfer Agent, or MTA. Avcheck itself isn't a virusscanner, nor it is an MTA. It sits between the MTA and a real antivirus software. Most MTAs available today can call an external program for every mail message in order to perform various tasks, including virus scanning and content filtering. Avcheck can be used as that external program. Avcheck will receive a mail message from a mail system, pass it to an antivirus software, and, depending on the presence of a virus in that message, will either allow the message to be delivered or take appropriate actions to handle infected mail. Avcheck does nothing with a mail message contents -- it's task is to prepare file with a mail message and feed it to an antivirus progra. It's an antivirus task to decode MIME structure, handle embedded archives and so on. Many but not all antivirus products today have this ability.

Perl5 module to read directives from a configuration file
The ConfigReader library is a set of classes which reads directives from a configuration file. The library is completely object oriented, and it is envisioned that parsers for new styles of configuration files can be easily added. ConfigReader::Spec encapsulates a specification for configuration directives. You can specify which directives can be in the configuration file, aliases for the directive, whether the directive is required or has a default value, and how to parse the directive value. Here's an example of how one directive might be specified: required $spec 'HomePage', 'new URI::URL'; This defines a required directive called 'HomePage'. To parse the value from the configuration file, the URI::URL::new() method will be called with the string value as its argument. use 'perldoc ConfigReader' for more information.

IO::Pager is lightweight and can be used to locate an available pager and set $ENV{PAGER} sanely or as a factory for creating objects defined elsewhere such as IO::Pager::Buffered and IO::Pager::Unbuffered. IO::Pager subclasses are designed to programmatically decide whether or not to pipe a filehandle's output to a program specified in $ENV{PAGER}. Subclasses are only required to support filehandle output methods and close, namely

KoreLogic Expression Language library
The KoreLogic Expression Language Library is a C library that provides a simple expression language that can be embedded in other programs. This library does not implement a full programming language, but rather a simpler expression language called KL-EL that is designed to provide arithmetic and logic operations useful in situations where embedding a full programming language would be overkill. KL-EL expressions have access to a full set of arithmetic and logic operations, and they can access functions and variables exported from the embedding program. Unlike most other languages of its kind, KL-EL is statically and strongly typed, which helps ensure that expressions are valid before they are executed. The embedding API is designed to be easy to use, and the library itself is designed to be very small.

Switch - A switch statement for Perl
Switch.pm provides the syntax and semantics for an explicit case mechanism for Perl. The syntax is minimal, introducing only the keywords switch and case and conforming to the general pattern of existing Perl control structures. The semantics are particularly rich, allowing any one (or more) of nearly 30 forms of matching to be used when comparing a switch value with its various cases. -Anton <tobez@FreeBSD.org>

Synchronizing Key Server, a fast OpenPGP keyserver
SKS OpenPGP Key Server SKS is a new OpenPGP keyserver whose goal is to provide easy to deploy, decentralized, and highly reliable synchronization. That means that a key submitted to one SKS server will quickly be distributed to all key servers; and even wildly out-of-date servers, or servers that experience spotty connectivity, can fully synchronize with rest of the system. Convert::Bencode_XS exists for a couple of reasons, first of all performance. Especially bdecode() is between 10 and 200 times faster than Convert::Bencode version (depending on file): the great speed increase is in part due to the iterative algorithm used. bencode() is written in C for better performance, but it still uses a recursive algorithm. It manages to be around 3 to 5 times faster than Convert::Bencode version. Check out the "extras" directory in this distribution for benchmarks.
