JasperReports is a powerful open source Java reporting tool that has the ability to deliver rich content onto the screen, to the printer or into PDF, HTML, XLS, CSV and XML files. It is entirely written in Java and can be used in a variety of Java enabled applications, including J2EE or Web applications, to generate dynamic content. Its main purpose is to help creating page oriented, ready to print documents in a simple and flexible manner. If you need a GUI, please see the port devel/ireport.

JCC is a C++ code generator for producing the glue code necessary to call into Java classes from CPython via Java's Native Invocation Interface (JNI). JCC generates C++ wrapper classes that hide all the gory details of JNI access as well Java memory and object reference management. JCC generates CPython types that make these C++ classes accessible from a Python interpreter. JCC attempts to make these Python types pythonic by detecting iterators and property accessors. Iterators and mappings may also be declared to JCC.

The Apache Java Enterprise Mail Server (a.k.a. Apache James) is a 100% pure Java SMTP and POP3 Mail server and NNTP News server. We have designed James to be a complete and portable enterprise mail engine solution based on currently available open protocols. James is also a mail application platform. We have developed a Java API to let you write Java code to process emails that we call the mailet API. A mailet can generate an automatic reply, update a database, prevent spam, build a message archive, or whatever you can imagine. A matcher determines whether your mailet should process an email in the server. The James project hosts the Mailet API, and James provides an implementation of this mail appli -cation platform API. James is based upon the Apache Avalon application framework, formerly a product of the Apache Avalon project.

Colt is a package for scalable scientific and technical computing in Java. It consists of several free Java libraries, for user convenience bundled under one single uniform umbrella. Namely the Colt library, the Jet library, the CoreJava library, and the Concurrent library. The Colt library provides fundamental general-purpose data structures optimized for numerical data, such as resizable arrays, dense and sparse matrices (multi-dimensional arrays), linear algebra, associative containers and buffer management.

This version of Crimson supports the Java API for XML Processing (JAXP) version 1.1 specification by providing implementations for the following package hierarchies: javax.xml.parsers, org.w3c.dom, org.xml.sax.*. Note that the javax.xml.transform hierarchy is NOT supported. One known implementation of the javax.xml.transform hierarchy is Xalan 2, which is available as a separate port in java/xalan. jEdit is an Open Source programmer's text editor written in Java. It is released under the GNU General Public License. jEdit was written for Java 1.1 with Swing 1.1, and also runs under Java 2. As far as text editors written in Java go, jEdit is one of the best. It has an easy to use, intuitive interface, and enough features and flexibility to please even the most hard-core programmer.
