Kodi (formerly known as XBMC) is a free and open source cross-platform
media-player and entertainment hub. It allows users to play and view
most videos, music, podcasts, and other digital media files from local
and network storage media and the internet.
libCEC allows you in combination with the right hardware to control your
device with your TV remote control utilising your existing HDMI cabling.
This library is an enabling platform for the CEC bus in HDMI, it allows
developers to interact with other HDMI devices without having to worry
about the communication overhead, handshaking, and the various ways of
sending a message for each vendor.
quvi is a command line tool for parsing flash media stream URLs. It supports
many websites including YouTube and Dailymotion.
Starting from 0.4.0, the quvi distribution has split into libquvi-scripts,
libquvi and quvi.
libquvi-scripts contains the embedded lua scripts that libquvi uses for parsing
the media details. Some additional utility scripts are also included.

Kdenlive is a non-linear video editor for GNU/Linux, OS X and FreeBSD,
which supports DV, AVCHD and HDV editing. Kdenlive relies on several

libsmacker is a cross-platform C library which can be used for decoding Smacker
Video files produced by RAD Game Tools. Smacker Video was the king of video
middleware in the 1990s, and its 256-color compressed video format was used in
over 2600 software titles.
xine is a free multimedia player. It plays back CDs, DVDs, and VCDs.
It also decodes multimedia files like AVI, MOV, WMV, and MP3 from local disk
drives, and displays multimedia streamed over the Internet. It interprets many
of the most common multimedia formats available.

MJPG-streamer takes JPGs from Linux-UVC compatible webcams, filesystem or
other input plugins and streams them as M-JPEG via HTTP to webbrowsers,
VLC and other software. It is the successor of uvc-streamer, a Linux-UVC
streaming application with Pan/Tilt
mkvalidator is a simple command line tool to verify Matroska and WebM
files for spec conformance. It checks the various bogus or missing key
elements against the EBML DocType version of the file and reports the
errors/warnings in the command line.
Naludump is a tool to delete NALU fill data from h.264 streams embedded into
TS files. The overall file structure isn't modified, only complete TS packets
of NALU fill data are removed.
Naludump contains lots of code of Klaus Schmidinger's VDR, and is based on
cocepts from Marten Richter's Nalustripper.
