libdvdcss is a simple library designed for accessing DVDs like a block device
without having to bother about the decryption. The important features are:
- Portability. Currently supported platforms are GNU/Linux, FreeBSD, BeOS
and Windows.
- The MacOS X version is being worked on as well.
- Simplicity. There are currently 7 functions in the API, and we intend to
keep this number low.
- Freedom. libdvdcss is released under the General Public License, ensuring
it will stay free, and used only for free software products.
- Just better. Unlike most similar projects, libdvdcss doesn't require the
region of your drive to be set.
gxine is a simple but effective GUI for the Xine media player.
It uses the GTK toolkit, so it nicely fits in into a GNOME desktop.
tcmplex-pantelje, audio video multiplexer from the transcode distribution,
re-writen for 8 audio channels. This version fixes an AC3 bug and supports
files > 2GB.
libCEC allows you in combination with the right hardware to control your
device with your TV remote control utilising your existing HDMI cabling.
This library is an enabling platform for the CEC bus in HDMI, it allows
developers to interact with other HDMI devices without having to worry
about the communication overhead, handshaking, and the various ways of
sending a message for each vendor.

libmovtar
---------
has been implemented according to the quicktime4linux API
It supports reading and writing (read/write mode has been prepared,
but is not implemented yet) of MJPEG video in YUV 4:2:2 JPEG with
mono/stereo, 8/16-bit, any sample rate sound.
It supports indexing files (always done when writing a new file,
old (or manually created) movtar files without index are indexed
internally during the opening process).
You can freely jump forwards and backwards between the frames in
an opened file.
Libmpeg3 supports advanced editing and manipulation of MPEG streams.

xine is a free multimedia player. It plays back CDs, DVDs, and VCDs.
It also decodes multimedia files like AVI, MOV, WMV, and MP3 from local disk
drives, and displays multimedia streamed over the Internet. It interprets many
of the most common multimedia formats available.
These are the libraries for the xine.
