LZ4 is a very fast lossless compression algorithm, providing compression speed at 400 MB/s per core, scalable with multi-cores CPU. It also features an extremely fast decoder, with speed in multiple GB/s per core, typically reaching RAM speed limits on multi-core systems. A high compression derivative, called LZ4_HC, is also provided. It trades CPU time for compression ratio. The libraries are BSD licensed, and the binaries are GPLv2.

TorrentZip creates byte-for-byte exact zip files on any machine. This allows people to join a torrent (after they have converted their zip files) with a particular set of files, thus preventing them from having to download the entire set of files again. The unRAR utility is a freeware program, distributed with source code and developed for extracting, testing and viewing the contents of archives created with the RAR archiver, version 1.50 and above. For the usage and distribution license please read the file LICENSE.TXT. The unRAR utility is a minor part of the RAR archiver and contains RAR uncompression algorithm. UnRAR requires very small volume of memory to operate.

Phoon displays the phase of the moon, either currently or at a specified date / time. Unlike other such programs, which just tell you how long since first quarter or something like that, phoon shows you the phase with a cute little picture. You can vary the size of the picture with the -l flag, but only some sizes have pictures defined - other sizes use @'s.

cutmp3 is a small and fast command line MP3 editor. It lets you select sections of an MP3 interactively or via a timetable and save them to separate files without quality loss. It uses mpg123 for playback and works with VBR files and even with files bigger than 2GB. Other features are configurable silence seeking and ID3 tag seeking, which are useful for concatenated mp3s.

abcde is a command line (CLI) CD encoder. It will read your CD, contact a CDDB provider, download the track information, rip your CD and store all the encoded tracks in the tree layout you define. It supports multiple encoders for several formats, such as FLAC, Ogg/Vorbis, MP3,... and will use one single rip to create as many output formats as you want Many other useful features are supported.

OpenAL Soft is a software implementation of the OpenAL 3D audio API and an alternative to the somewhat outdated reference implementation. As stated on the website, OpenAL provides capabilities for playing audio in a virtual 3d environment. Distance attenuation, doppler shift, and directional sound emitters are among the features handled by the API. More advanced effects, including air absorption, low-pass filters, and reverb, are available through the EFX extension. It also facilitates streaming audio, multi-channel buffers, and audio capture.

Cyclone is a library of PureData classes, bringing some level of compatibility between Max/MSP and Pd environments. The original goal of cyclone was to create a collection of Max/MSP objects for PureData. This was in the 2000s area, Max/MSP version 4.6. Since then MAX evolved its architecture and file format to something that is incompatible with PureData. Compatibility in patch file level is limited to this very old version of Max/MSP.

mhWaveEdit is a graphical program for editing sound files. Features - Loads, plays, records and saves wav-files and a few other formats as well. - If the file is small, it's loaded into memory. NSPmod is a MOD (Protracker module and some of its extensions) / S3M (Scream Tracker 3 module) / MTM (Multitracker module) music player. This program uses a technology called No Signal Processor (NSP), which enables your PC play MODs without DSP such as Gravis UltraSound (GUS) GF1. This program requires VoxWare v2.90 compatible 8bit DAC device. I, John-Mark Gurney, have added support for output in 16bits. The volume level is slightly less than the 8bit version though.
