Afio makes cpio-format archives. It deals fairly gracefully
with potential input data corruption. Supports multi-volume
archives during interactive operation. Afio can make
compressed archives that are much safer than compressed tar,
or cpio archives. Afio has a tremendous number of options.
Afio might be best used as an `archive engine' in a backup
script.
"cronolog" is a simple program that reads log messages from its input
and writes them to a set of output files, the names of which are
constructed using template and the current date and time.
"cronolog" is intended to be used in conjunction with a Web server, such
as Apache to split the access log into daily or monthly logs. E.g.:
TransferLog "|/www/sbin/cronolog /www/logs/%Y/%m/%d/access.log"
ErrorLog "|/www/sbin/cronolog /www/logs/%Y/%m/%d/errors.log"
would instruct Apache to pipe its access and error log messages into
separate copies of cronolog, which would create new log files each day
in a directory hierarchy structured by date, i.e. on 31 December 1996
messages would be written to:
/www/logs/1996/12/31/access.log
/www/logs/1996/12/31/errors.log
After midnight the following files would be used:
/www/logs/1997/01/01/access.log
/www/logs/1997/01/01/errors.log
This port automates the creation of a bootable CD-ROM which contains a
full FreeBSD installation. It also includes a script for installing a
FreeBSD release, as built by 'make release'. If desired, a floppy disk
with an /etc directory may be provided to supply system /etc overrides,
allowing one to use the same CD/DVD image to boot multiple systems, where
each system's hostname, IP address, etc is contained on a separate floppy
disk. See the README file for more information.
CryptoFS is a encrypted filesystem for Filesystem in Userspace (FUSE) and
the Linux Userland FileSystem (LUFS). Visit http://fuse.sourceforge.net/
for more information on FUSE, or http://lufs.sourceforge.net/lufs/ for
more information on LUFS.
CryptoFS will use a normal directory to store files encrypted. The
mountpoint will contain the decrypted files. Every file stored in this
mountpoint will be written encrypted (data and filename) to the directory
that was mounted. If you unmount the directory the encrypted data can only
be access by mounting the directory with the correct key again. Like other
FUSE/LUFS filesystems it does not need root access or any complicated setup
like creating a filesystem on a encrypted disk using the loop device.
CryptoFS can be build for FUSE, and LUFS. When you build for FUSE you get
a program to mount the filesystem. For LUFS a shared library will be built
that can be used by LUFS's lufsd. Both methods can use the same encrypted
directory.
etcmerge is a tool for keeping /etc up to date when updating,
or for management after installworld (instead of mergemester).
The primary difference from mergemaster, is that etcmerge
requires much less manual work than mergemaster, due to the
use of a three way merge.
aimage is the Advanced Disk Imager a tool to create
forensic disk images. aimage is a component the
Advanced Forensics Format project.
FreeBSD only command line tool to display CPU temp and battery infos.
JailAdmin is a system for managing a set of named jails. It provides:
- A command line utility for starting and stopping named jails.
- An efficient method for shutting down a large number of jails in
parallel.
- A simple configuration syntax.
- SNMP monitoring facilities.
It is designed to provide more flexible functionality than FreeBSD's own
rc.d/jail script, and should provide a complete superset of features.
MDF2ISO is a simple utility to convert an Alcohol 120% bin image into standard
ISO-9660 format, cue sheets, or a TOC file
